Why EC exists

Essence-Ciel was built on a refusal. A refusal to accept that handcrafted precious metal work had to be outsourced, diluted or explained away by marketing. Every piece that leaves this workshop was built by the same hands, on the same bench, from raw metals sourced from certified suppliers. We control the alloy. We draw the wire. We cut the links. We weave the chain. There is no other way to do this and call it EC.

The Makers — Sebastien Lord & Steve Joseph Dionne, Master Jewellers

Sebastien Lord trained in metallurgy before turning to jewelry. His background is not in design - it is in the science of metals. That distinction matters. Steve Joseph Dionne is an entrepreneur and jeweller who decided to join Sebastien on his journey. EC pieces are not made to look heavy. They are engineered to be heavy, balanced and permanent. Every piece that carries an EC serial number is passed through their hands.

From raw wire to finished piece

  • Wire preparation

    Metal is melted, poured and drawn through progressively smaller draw plates until it reaches the target gauge. This alone takes several hours per piece.

  • Link cutting & opening

    Wire is coiled on a mandrel and cut into individual jump rings. Each ring is opened individually — the foundation of the weave.

  • Hand weaving

    Links are connected one by one according to the pattern. Byzantine and Half-Persian each require a different sequence, different tension, different hands.

  • Finishing & inspection

    The finished piece is polished, weighed on certified scales, assigned a serial number and inspected against its specifications before documentation is prepared.

A workshop, not a showroom

Essence-Ciel does not operate a retail space. Our workshop is built around precision tools, controlled lighting and efficient workflow — not display cases. We work with a limited number of clients each year by design. Not as a marketing strategy. Because that is the honest limit of what one workshop can produce without compromising what makes it EC.
